Tudor Pelagos FXD CHRONO Cycling Edition

Designed specifically for the cyclists of the TUDOR Pro Cycling Team, TUDOR presents a new Pelagos FXD model: a cycling-themed chronograph whose construction has taken into account light weight and functionality. Featuring a carbon composite case, equipped with a high-performance Manufacture Caliber, this watch reflects the bold spirit of a team that competes in some of the most demanding cycling races in the world, including, starting in 2024, the Giro de Italy.

Professional cycling is not for cowards. Cyclists push their bodies and minds to the limit with every pedal stroke, not to mention the incredible danger of this sport. A watch that has been designed with professional cycling in mind must withstand the extreme demands of this sport and, at the same time, be easy to use for the cyclist. It's no secret that the fastest bikes are made of carbon fiber, and that's why TUDOR has opted for carbon composite for the case of the new chronograph designed with the most daring cyclists in mind. The incorporation of stainless steel and titanium elements helps make the watch necessarily robust, as it will undoubtedly face the unpredictable conditions that cycling presents.

During the design phase, it is not just the durability of the watch that is taken into account. It is also intended to be useful to cyclists while they are on the bike. The tachymeter scale of a chronograph is usually calibrated based on the speeds a car can reach; in fact, many TUDOR chronographs feature a scale normally associated with motorsports. What makes this “Cycling Edition” special is that the scale is presented in a way that adapts to the speeds that cyclists can maintain. The chronograph scale is “wrapped” around the dial in a spiral, allowing you to read at a glance the average speeds at which cyclists typically travel. The tachymeter function on the Pelagos FXD Chrono “Cycling Edition” has been specifically designed for cycling.

  2. Fixed bezel with 60 minute graduation
  3. Tachymeter scale on the cycling-specific dial
  4. Matte black dial with hour markers in a luminous monobloc ceramic composite
  5. Manufacturing Caliber MT5813, certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Control (COSC), with silicon hairspring and 70-hour power reserve
  6. “Snowflake” hands, one of the hallmarks of TUDOR diving watches introduced in 1969, with grade X1 Swiss Super‑LumiNova® luminescent material
  7. One-piece technical fabric strap in black with matching elements

The matte black dial with shades of red prioritizes legibility and is reminiscent of the colors of the TUDOR Pro Cycling Team. The distinctive square hour markers and “Snowflake” hands, designed in the 1960s by TUDOR to offer larger luminous surfaces for improved readability, are made from a luminous ceramic compound that ensures optimal readability under difficult conditions. Around the circumference of the dial, printed at a 45° angle reset, is a recalibrated tachymeter scale whose inner ring focuses on the speeds at which cyclists ride.

The one-piece fabric strap is one of the hallmarks of TUDOR, which in 2010 became one of the first watch brands to offer it with its watches. Woven in France on 19th century Jacquard looms by the Julien Faure company in the St-Etienne region, its manufacturing quality, robustness and comfort on the wrist are unique. For the Pelagos FXD models, TUDOR and Julien Faure have made a very technical strap. Made from a strong, durable 22mm black Jacquard technical fabric and a traditional buckle closure, it's perfect for spending time on the bike.

The Manufacture Caliber MT5813, which gives life to the Pelagos FXD Chrono, has hours, minutes, seconds, chronograph and date functions. It also features the typical matte finish of TUDOR Manufacturing Calibers and is completed with a distinctive die-cut tungsten monobloc rotor.

With a power reserve of 70 hours that can exceed any weekend and a non-magnetic silicon hairspring, the Manufacture Chronograph Caliber MT5813 has the official certification of the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Control), obtained after exceeding performance standards marked by this independent institute at a variation of -2 +4 seconds per day, tested on each fully assembled chronograph. Manufactured in the purest watchmaking tradition, this high-performance movement includes a column wheel mechanism and a vertical clutch. Continuing with the TUDOR quality philosophy, it presents extraordinary robustness and reliability, guaranteed by a series of tests carried out in extreme conditions that all TUDOR products must pass.

This movement, Breitling Manufacture Chronograph Caliber 01, includes a high-precision regulating instrument developed by TUDOR and exclusive finishes. It is the result of a long-standing collaboration between the two brands.

Each TUDOR watch is assembled and fully tested to TUDOR's superior standards in the new TUDOR Manufacture located in Le Locle, Switzerland. This new state-of-the-art facility, which brings together the savoir-faire of watchmakers with the best of production management and automated certification systems, was completed in 2021 after three years of construction. Decorated entirely in TUDOR red, the Manufacture spans four floors, a total of more than 5,500 m 2 , and is physically and visually connected to its neighbor, the Kenissi Manufacture, the facility where TUDOR movements are produced founded in 2016. With Kenissi and a network of TUDOR-owned subsidiaries, the brand has been able to integrate the development and production of high-performance mechanical calibers. Consequently, TUDOR now fully controls the manufacturing of strategic components and guarantees their quality.

Since Hans Wilsdorf created the brand in 1926, in accordance with his vision of the ideal watch, TUDOR has always created watches with the highest possible level of strength, durability, reliability and precision.
