What is the history of the engagement ring?

Engagement rings signify in our Western tradition the intention of a couple to marry and represents the formal acceptance of the future commitment. The symbolism of this ring is the trust and dedication of the lovers before this union.

The most common today is that the ring is set with a diamond since this stone is durable, unbreakable and is the one that can best define the concept of "eternity". Diamond comes from the Greek adamas, which means invincible.

The ring is worn on the ring finger of the left hand, since according to the story, it is through this finger that the amoris vein connects directly with the heart.

You can find solitaires and engagement rings in our Haute Horlogerie Workshop and Center, located at Luis Pasteur 5846 and in the boutiques of Alto Las Condes, Parque Arauco and Costanera Center.
